Course, demo, social evening and workshop bookings:
Please note that all tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable. That means that if you miss the class (for any reason) the booking is forfeit (it will NOT be rescheduled/refunded/or credited).
Dietary requirements: If you have dietary requirements please mention that in the “comment section”order notes” section when booking or let us know as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate any dietary requirements, however in some cases this is not possible, and there may be dishes that you cannot eat. Most of our menus are Halaal friendly.
Class times: Please check class times when you book. Classes will start and end promptly at the times advertised.
Venue: Please check your confirmation email when you book for the class venue. If there are any changes in venue you will be notified by SMS and email.
Equipment: Equipment is supplied for you to use in the class, please return it at the end of the class.
Ingredients: All ingredients are supplied for you. Your finished products are yours to keep, however no other ingredients may be removed from the premises unless you are told otherwise.
Boxes: A bakery box will always be supplied for you to take your items home.
Allergens: Our products contain butter, gluten (wheat) and eggs and are made in an environment that handles nuts, soya, and alcohol. Nut, gluten and alcohol-free cakes can be made on request; however, we cannot guarantee there has been no cross contamination due to the nature of production.
Storage: Cakes should be stored at room temperature in the box provided. They should be kept out of direct sunlight. Freezing or refrigerating our cakes or cupcakes is not recommended (unless otherwise specified). Please note cupcakes should be consumed within 2 days and cakes within 3 days.
Aprons: Please bring an apron with you to all classes.
Certificates: Certificates are provided for all our short courses (3 days and more) and if you attend 4 or more of our course modules in a two-year period you will be awarded a Certificate of Excellence.
Experience Levels: All our courses and classes are suitable for beginners EXCEPT the Tiered Cake Course. This is suitable for students that have some cake decorating experience or have attended 2 or more modules before the course.
Bookings: All bookings are to be done through our online shop. Payments can be made via Payfast (secure online portal) or direct bank transfer (EFT). Full payment is required to confirm your booking. Please ensure the contact number and email address that you provide is correct.
If using a voucher code this can be used on the online site. Please note that once that booking is confirmed (via the site or manually) the voucher code will no longer be valid.
If using direct bank transfer, the bank details will be displayed on the page after you click “Place Order”, your seat will be saved for 24 hours, please email your proof of payment to julie@juliescakestudio.co.za to confirm your seat (use your booking number as a reference). If we do not receive your proof of payment within 24 hours the booking will be cancelled. You will receive a confirmation email when the funds clear in our account.
If using Payfast, your confirmation will be immediate when you complete the Payfast transaction.
Once we have received your payment (in full) you will receive a confirmation email to confirm your seat. We will send out a further confirmation in the week before the class via the class WhatsApp group (details below). This will include confirmation of time, date, venue, and any other relevant information. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Julie via email or Whatsapp.
Classes are limited to a maximum of 8 people. Each class requires a minimum of 3 people to run (if there are fewer than 3 people booked the class will be cancelled or rescheduled) the cutoff date for booking is 48 hours before the class. (eg. if the class is to run on Saturday morning, a decision will be made on Thursday morning if the class is to be cancelled) see below.
Payment plans: For any classes or courses over R2000 we offer a payment plan. Please discuss the terms of your payment plan with Julie. Payment in full would need to be made before the course or class. Payment dates and amounts will be agreed upon by both parties before the payment plan commences. If you miss a payment (as agreed upon) you will have 3 days to make payment and if payment is NOT made then all previous payments will be forfeit, and your booking will be cancelled. Refunds MAY be possible if the course or class is fully booked. But if we are not able to fill the seats then your payments won’t be refunded.
Cancellations BY Julie’s Cake Studio: We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the class at any time. If the class is cancelled, you will be refunded in full. If the class is rescheduled, then you will be given the option of booking for the new date, a voucher for a future class or a full refund. If Julie is ill and cannot find a suitable replacement teacher this will also apply. If the class is cancelled for any reason, you will be notified by email and SMS as soon as possible (please make sure your contact details are correct).
Absentees and non-attendance: Please note that all tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable. That means that if you miss the class (for any reason) the booking is forfeit (it will NOT be rescheduled/refunded/or credited). You are more than welcome to give your tickets to someone else to attend in your place if you are unable to make it. This also applies if you miss a day/s during a short course (ie no rescheduling/refunds/credits)
WhatsApp groups: A WhatsApp group will be set of for each class. Information about the class will be sent to the group (including a location pin) as well as any pictures take in the class, links to recipes and any other relevant information. I will add you to the group or send a link for you to join the group. If you prefer not to be added please specify this when you book. Your details will never be shared, but everyone in the group will be able to see your number.
This group will be created in the week before the class for easy communication and the group will be closed and all attendees removed in the week after the course or class.
You are welcome to join our bigger WhatsApp group for long term support or our Facebook private group. Please request the info from Julie.
Refreshments: Tea, coffee, water, and biscuits or a light snack will be provided during the class.
Private classes, one-on-one classes, parties, and team building: Please book these directly through Julie. You will receive a quote once we know what you are looking for. You will need to pay a 50% deposit to secure your booking (and date). The balance of payment is to be made the day before the event (for EFTs) or on the day of the event (cash or SnapScan).
Dates are booked on a first come, first served basis subject to Julie’s availability. Private classes are customizable, and we are happy to design an event within your budget. Private classes are billed at R500 per hour plus ingredients, a minimum of 2 hours.
Please check your quote/invoice carefully to confirm all details (date, time, class content and what’s included etc). The details listed on the quote will be considered confirmed if you accept the quote.
Quotes/invoices are valid for 7 days. If you confirm (via payment) after that time it does NOT automatically mean that your booking is confirmed. Please contact us to confirm that we still have availability for your order. The location, date, and time of the class up will be listed on the quote/invoice, please make sure this is correct.
Cancellations/rescheduling more than 7 days in advance of the due date will be accommodated on your new due date (subject to availability). Cancellations/rescheduling less than 7 days before due date unfortunately cannot be accommodated (purchasing and prep will already have begun). No refunds, credit, transfers, or exchanges.
Any changes to the original quote/invoice after acceptance will be requoted accordingly.
If we are unable to present the class due to loadshedding/lockdowns or any other reason beyond our control, we will attempt to reschedule, or you will be refunded in full and you will be notified as soon as possible. The Studio will not be held liable for such circumstances.
If we are presenting our class in your venue (private or at a third-party venue) we are not liable for any issues beyond our control such as loadshedding/lockdowns, insufficient seating, ovens, ventilation etc. Every effort is made to prevent such issues and we will provide a list of what is required from the venue at the time of booking.
Gift vouchers: If you have a voucher code, please use it when booking on the online site and check the expiry date on the voucher for details. If you have booked and paid for a specific class or course for someone else, please confirm with them the dates etc before booking as we do not offer rescheduling/refunds/credit. If you have received a gift voucher, please note that it is valid for the class or course specified on the voucher and cannot be rescheduled/refunded/credited. It is not transferrable, but you may gift the seat to someone else if you are unable to attend.

NO returns or refunds are allowed on the costing tool as access is permitted immediately upon completing a purchase.
Costing tool purchases are for personal use only, and cannot be sold, redistributed or given away unless otherwise permitted by the owner. Employees of your business may also use your copy but sharing with other entities is strictly prohibited. Cakes and custom orders
Please note that cupcakes and cookies have a minimum order of 12.
All orders are baked and made to order, every care and attention is given to all orders, to make your event special. We take a limited number of orders to ensure the highest quality, the below terms and conditions are to ensure we maintain this level of service.
For each order we will send you a written quote/invoice. Please check your quote/invoice carefully to confirm all details (date, time, flavour, size, colours, decor etc). The details listed on the quote will be considered confirmed if you accept the quote.

50% payment confirms your order, this is a non-refundable deposit. Balance of payment is due 7 days before due date. Payment can be made via EFT or SnapScan.
Date and time of of delivery. The date and time of delivery/pick up will be listed on the quote/invoice, please make sure this is correct as last minute changes cannot be accommodated, we work to a strict deadline to assure maximum freshness. Pick up is strictly by appointment, if you are unable to pick up at the appointed time please notify us asap, and a new time will be scheduled at our convenience. Please note we do not work on Sundays (for pick ups or deliveries) please plan accordingly.

Cake complaints are extremely rare, and every effort is made ahead of time to prevent any misunderstandings. If you have accepted delivery or pick up your cake, we assume you are happy with the look of the cake. If you are not happy please notify us immediately so we can rectify any issues. If you believe there is something wrong with the cake, the cake must be returned within 24 hours of delivery/pick up so we can investigate. No refunds will be made if the cake has been eaten. If a cake has found to be defective we will refund you in full. If you do not like the taste of our cake that is not grounds for a refund as individual tastes vary.
NO refunds will be made for customers that have changed their mind or cakes that have been damaged after acceptance of the cake.
If the cake is delivered to a venue, please make sure that the person responsible for accepting deliver is available, they will need to sign off that the cake is in good order. Cakes accepted at pick up are considered to be in good order and we are no longer responsible for the cake. Please make sure that all suggested travel and storage suggestions are followed. We are not liable for any damages after acceptance.
